[ Oldies Brain Busters! ]

This week's brain buster was called Can You Rise To The Occasion?

The five records below, listed A-E, were in a certain sequential order that relates to the question, "Can you rise to the occasion?" The players were asked to determine why they were in that order. When they did, they'd know which of the eight Motown records also listed below appropriately completed the sequence when listed as record "C.".

A. Oh, Pretty Woman -- Roy Orbison
B. Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose -- Dawn Featuring Tony Orlando
C. (one of the Motown records listed below)
D. You Were On My Mind -- We Five
E. See Me, Feel Me -- The Who

Here were the eight Motown wannabees:

Motown song #1: Baby Love -- The Supremes
Motown song #2: Shotgun -- Jr. Walker and the All Stars
Motown song #3: Please Mr. Postman -- The Marvelettes
Motown song #4: My Guy -- Mary Wells
Motown song #5: The Way You Do The Things You Do -- The Temptations
Motown song #6: I Was Made To Love Her -- Stevie Wonder
Motown song #7: Can I Get A Witness -- Marvin Gaye
Motown song #8: Dancing In The Street -- Martha and the Vandellas

The only one of these Motown songs that qualified to be record "C" above was Can I Get A Witness.

Why? The first word of each song listed would then complete the phrase: Oh, say can you see, the first line of The Star Spangled Banner!
