[ "Be Unique!" Archives]

• • The "Be Unique" category for the week of August 5 - August 9, 2002:

Name a Top 40, 1955-1985 charting song which consists solely of spoken lyrics.

Songs such as "Tequila" which are not within the spirit of this category were not accepted, and players were asked to send in alterative answers.

Uniqueness will be determined by song title. Of all unique submissions, the highest charting song which was on the Billboard Top 40 for the longest time receives a bonus point. If two unique answers tie in both highest song position and number of weeks, both submissions will be allotted a bonus point.
Chart positions and number of weeks on Top 40 charts determined by Joel Whitburn's "Top Pop Singles, 1955-1999," Copyright 2000.

Please note:THERE WAS AN ERROR IN REPORTING THE BONUS POINT WINNER SUNDAY NIGHT/MONDAY MORNING. Thanks Randy!

Also, I have been out of town for almost a week and have been unable to verify some of these answers. That is, I would usually research some of them to make sure there is absolutely no singing, e.g. background singing. If I erred, please accept my apology that I wasn't able this week to listen to each song as I was busy having fun during my much needed vacation!
